How it works
Four steps, about two hours

Dial on movement
Seat the dial on the movement. The feet line up with two small holes, so it only goes one way.
- 2
Press on the hands
Hour, minute, then seconds. The hand presser does the work, so you press straight and evenly.
- 3
Movement into the case
Lower the movement into the case, slide in the stem and click the crown into place.
- 4
Close it up
Screw on the caseback, fit the bracelet, set the time. Then wear the watch you built.

Do I need any experience?
No. The kit is made for first-timers. The guide shows every step with photos, and the tools are the ones a watchmaker would use.
How long does it take?
Most people finish in about two hours. Take your time with the hands, that is the only fiddly part.
What's the difference between the two movements?
Japanese automatic is a Seiko Instruments NH35A, rated −20 to +40 seconds a day with a 41-hour power reserve, and any watchmaker can service it. Standard automatic is an NH35-compatible clone with the same size and fit but no factory accuracy rating. Both have 24 jewels, hacking seconds, hand-winding and a date.
What if I bend a hand or get stuck?
Send us a photo or video and we reply within 24 hours. You also get a second dial and set of hands in the box, so one slip doesn't stop you.
Can I swim with it?
The case is rated 300 m by its maker. Because you assemble it yourself, have it pressure-tested at a local watch shop before you take it in the water.
When will it arrive?
We pack every kit with care and send it once your payment is confirmed. You get a tracking number by email when it ships, so you can follow it to your door. Ordering a gift? Order early.
